DNA Support Group
Genetic genealogy is a way for genealogists to go beyond what they can learn from personal knowledge, relatives or historical documentation. DNA testing gives us matches with relatives, many of whom will be unknown to us. But genetic genealogy can be a confusing subject to grasp - especially if trying to study it alone - which is why the Port Macquarie & Districts Family History Society Inc. formed this group.
Made up of members of our family history society, we meet regularly to exchange our success stories and discuss new tools, ideas and topics - all of which will benefit our individual family tree research.
Formed in 2016, the group meets on the 4th Monday of each month from February to November, between 1pm and 3pm at the Port Macquarie - Hastings Library in the Library Meeting Room.
We also have a closed Facebook page which we find is a great way of providing information about what is happening in the world of DNA genealogy. Members are encouraged to post and discuss anything they find of interest.
I look forward to welcoming any new members.
