Roots Magic Group
Roots Magic is a versatile software application for recording and organising the information that you collect as you research your family history. We've been using it for some years now, and in the process we've built up some understanding of how to use it to best effect.
The Group is open to all members of the Society.
If you're using Roots Magic now, and want to explore some of the things it can do for you, come along to our sessions. Item 1 at every meeting is YOUR QUESTIONS - let's help you to overcome problems or understand how to use the software to best effect (and there's no such thing as a silly question). We then move on to looking at some of the facilities that Roots Magic provides, and how to use them to meet your needs. Recently, we've introduced a "where do I find information about ... " segment to help you find some of the more obscure sources of information, and group members nominate where in the world they want to explore next.
If you're thinking of adopting the software to keep track of that precious information you've gathered over the years, or even considering a change from your present software, dropping in to our group meetings offers you a chance to see Roots Magic, talk to people who use it, and hear first-hand experiences.
In case you've wondered - we don't get any benefits from the Roots Magic developers or marketeers. We just like to help our fellow researchers, because we had a lot of help from Society members when we were still new to family history research. We meet the 4th Wednesday of alternate months in the Grant Street Library meeting room, 1.15-3.15pm.
We'd love to see you at our next session.
